Progressing
In 1947, two priests from the St. Francis Assisi Capuchin Religious Society started an Ashram named "Capuchin Seva Bhavan" at Chulliyode. In 1976, together with this Ashram, Bishop Jacob Thookuzhi, the then Bishop of the Mananthavady Diocese, blessed a parish church named "St. Francis Assisi Church, Chulliyode." In the early years, there were only eleven families. At present, there are 140 families. From the very beginning, this parish has undertaken religious activities for its members and charitable activities for people of all castes and creeds. One of the main activities is teaching Catechism (religion classes) to children from 1st to 12th grade. We conduct seminars, cultural programs, festival celebrations, food distribution, etc. In all of these programs, people from other communities are also invited, and they usually participate. The church is open to all people for prayer. The parish priest visits the families in the parish, and he also visits many families from other communities. We are very happy to inform you that this parish maintains a warm, friendly, and charitable relationship with all the people in and around the church. The church has only two acres of land, where coffee and pepper are planted. The parish expenses are mainly managed through the monthly donations of member families, Sunday collections, and offerings from the faithful.
