Aspirancy

"If any man would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me" (Lk 9:23)

The purpose of Aspirancy is to help aspiring individuals get a close look at religious life. It's a time to see if they are a good fit for this special commitment to Christ. During this period, they lay the groundwork for a life of discipleship, considering it carefully (like in Luke 14:28). They learn about religious virtues and spiritual practices and develop good habits and polite behaviour. They also work on improving themselves emotionally, spiritually, and intellectually for religious life. The goal is that, by the end of Aspirancy, they will have grown enough in their human and Christian maturity to be comfortable in their relationship with God, themselves, and others, preparing for the next step in their formation, which is Postulancy.
