Introduction :
ഐഐടി ബോംബെ, ഗുവാഹത്തി, ഹൈദരാബാദ്, ഐഐഐടിഡിഎം ജബൽപൂർ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ ബാച്ലർ ഓഫ് ഡിസൈനിങ് പ്രവേശനത്തിനുള്ള അപേക്ഷകരെ ഷോർട്ട്ലിസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്യുന്നതിനായി ഐഐടി ബോംബെ നടത്തുന്ന ഒരു ഡിസൈൻ പ്രവേശന പരീക്ഷയാണ് അണ്ടർഗ്രാജുവേറ്റ് കോമൺ എൻട്രൻസ് എക്സാമിനേഷൻ ഫോർ ഡിസൈൻ (യുസിഇഇഡി). ഒരു അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര ടെസ്റ്റ് സെന്റർ ഉൾപ്പെടെ 25 നഗരങ്ങളിൽ വർഷത്തിൽ ഒരിക്കൽ ദേശീയ തലത്തിൽ UCEED പരീക്ഷ നടത്തുന്നു.
Exam Highlights
Eligibility
- Both Indian, as well as foreign nationals, can apply for UCEED 2022. Aspirants meet UCEED eligibility, if they fulfill the below-mentioned criteria:
Age Limit
- Candidates should have been born on or after October 1, 1997, if they belong to the General/ Open/ EWS/ OBC-NCL category. However, aspirants from SC/ ST/ PwD category should have been born on or after October 1, 1992.
Number of Attempts
- Candidates who meet the UCEED age criteria can take the exam a maximum of two times and that too in consecutive years. Candidates need to possess UCEED rank to secure admission in the BDes programme at its participating colleges. UCEED score is valid for one year and is applicable for admission only in the corresponding academic year.
Qualifying Exam
- Aspirants who have cleared their Class 12 or equivalent (qualifying) examination in 2021 OR are appearing for the exams in 2022 fulfill UCEED eligibility 2022. Candidates who have appeared for their Class 12 (or equivalent) examination the first time in 2020 or earlier are not eligible to appear for the UCEED exam. Candidates from all streams, that is, Arts & Humanities, Science, and Commerce are eligible to apply for the UCEED exam.

Marking Scheme
Part A (Numerical Answer Type)
- Questions will be worth 4 marks each.There is no negative marking.
No choices will be shown for these questions. Questions that are not attempted will be given zero marks.
Section 2
- MSQ (Multiple Select Questions)Questions will be worth 4 marks each 0.19 negative marking for each question
Section 3
- MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions)Questions will be worth 3 marks each 0.71 negative marking for each question Each MCQ has four choices out of which only one is the correct answer
Part B
- Part B consists of one question that is aimed at testing drawing skills which will require subjective evaluation. Part B question is mandatory.

How to Apply
Step 1
- Candidates who want to appear for UCEED first need to register through the online portal link www.uceed.iitb.ac.in
Step 2
- The candidates are required to register by submitting their mobile number, name, email address, and date of birth.
Step 3
- After registration, candidates need to fill their personal and academic details in the application form along with three exam centres of their choice.
Step 4
- The following documents need to be uploaded while online registration for UCEED 2022
- Recent coloured photographA scanned copy of the candidate's full signature on the white sheet/paper Qualifying examination certificate if appeared in 2021 or before Certificate from school/college principal, if they are appearing in 2022Date of birth proof, such as passport, SSC certificate or birth certificate.
Step 5
- Candidates need to pay the fee through online mode that is through net banking, debit and credit card.

Part A
Visualization and spatial ability
- Focuses on diagrammatic representation of data.
- It highlights the aspect of interpretation of large volume of data in pictorial form.
- This helps representing complex data in a simple format.
Observation and design sensitivity
- It enhances the ability to extract hidden data.Analysis and logical reasoning plays an important role in defining both people and situation critically.
- This also helps improvise the difference between tangible and intangible objects.
Environmental and social awareness
- It is about the general awareness about the natural resources, temperature and climate.Resources like; water, minerals, vegetation all combine to create the natural resource which needs to be utilized optimally.
- This requires good amount of designing and planning.
- The subject also revolves around designing artifacts.
Analytical and logical reasoning
- This gives one insight how analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data can be done through analytics and understanding.
- Every situation, solution and concept can be weighed through analytics.
- It also gives a clear understanding that there is no place for bias opinion and assumptions.
- All are based on data and one need to logically understand and interpret data.
- So, this area covers questions for data interpretation and brainteaser options.
Language and creativity
- This is a wide array where candidates can show their creativity along with a proper display of their grasp over English language.
- Knowledge in terms of grammar, tenses, verbs, vocabularies and thought process will be gauged.
- Creativity and innovations plays a big role here.
Design thinking and problem solving
- This area will judge if students can identify and analyze complex data.
- Candidate need to identify problem and generate a solution that will best fit to the situation.
- Generating solution will also involve reviewing the options available.
Part B
Drawing
- Ability to draw products, people or scenes in proportion with good line quality, composition, proportion, perspective and shading.
