Faith in Jesus Christ and his message of salvation is like seeing through a progressive lens in modern glasses worn by people to correct their defective eyesight. The uppermost portion of the lens enables the wearer to see clearly the remotest objects, while the lowest portion, the nearest objects. The higher the portion one looks through, the clearer he gets the shape of things at a given distance. On the other hand the lower the portion one looks through, the less clear he will be able to see the objects at the same distance. The life and the message of Jesus Christ, described in the Word of God is a progressive lens. Everyone who professes the Christian faith has the possibility to perceive it's innermost message. However, it depends on one's willingness to raise one's eyes. The time of completion of the 50th year of the foundation of the Eparchy of Mananthavady, that has come to be called as golden jubilee, is an invitation for introspection for all concerned, to come to the awareness of whether one is able to see through the uppermost portion and see the future developments and enable the different generations of faithful of this eparchy to accept those developments. One can also look through the lowest portion and be satisfied with the minimum. St Paul says: For even though it is the time when you ought to be teachers, you are still lacking, so that you must be taught the things that are the basic elements of the Word of God, and so you have been made like those who are in need of milk, and not of solid food. For anyone who is still feeding on milk is still unskillful in the Word of Justice; for he is like an infant. But solid food is for those who are mature, for those who, by practice, have sharpened their mind, so as to discern good from evil
