Overview:
ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റൃൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ടെക്നോളജി (IIT) എന്നത് ഉയർന്ന നിലവാരമുള്ള ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞരെയും എഞ്ചിനീയർമാരെയും സാങ്കേതിക വിദഗ്ധരെയും സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്നതിനായി ഇന്ത്യൻ ഗവണ്മെൻ്റ് തന്നെ സ്ഥാപിച്ച വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു കൂട്ടായ്മയാണ്. ഐഐടികളുടെ ആശയം ആദ്യമായി ഉടെലെടുത്തത് 1945-ൽ ഒരു റിപ്പോർട്ടിലാണ്. അന്നത്തെ എജ്യുക്കേഷൻ ഓൺ വൈസ്രോയ്സ് എക്സിക്യൂട്ടീവ് കൗൺസിൽ അംഗമായ N.M.Sircar -ൻ്റേതായിരുന്നു ആ റിപ്പോർട്ട്. അദ്ദേഹത്തിൻ്റെ ശുപാർശകളെ തുടർന്ന് 1950-ൽ ഖരഗ്പുരിൽ ആദ്യത്തെ ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ടെക്നോളജി സ്ഥാപിതമായി. ഓട്ടോണോമസ് സംബ്രതായതിലുള്ള ഈ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങൾക്കെല്ലാം വെവ്വേറെ ഡയറക്ടർ ബോർഡുകളും ഉണ്ട്. ഈ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലേക്കുള്ള പ്രവേശനം ഒരു ജോയിൻ്റ് എൻട്രൻസ് പരീക്ഷയിലൂടെയാണ് (IIT-JEE) നടക്കുന്നത്. ഈ പരീക്ഷ രണ്ടു ഘട്ടങ്ങളിയായാണ് നടക്കുന്നത് 'IIT - Main', 'IIT - Advanced'. ഓരോ ഘട്ടങ്ങളിലും വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ ഫിൽറ്റർ ചെയ്യുന്നു.
1961 -ൽ 'കോളേജ് ഓഫ് എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗ്' എന്ന പേരിലാണ് IIT Delhi പ്രവർത്തനം ആരംഭിക്കുന്നത്. പിന്നീട് 1963 -ൽ "ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ടെക്നോളജി (ഭേദഗതി) ആക്ട്, 1963" പ്രകാരം ദേശീയ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള ഒരു സ്ഥാപനമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുകയും "ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ടെക്നോളജി ഡൽഹി" എന്ന് പുനർനാമകരണം ചെയ്യുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഇതോടൊപ്പം തന്നെ സ്വന്തം അക്കാഡമിക് പോളിസികൾ തീരുമാനിക്കാനും, പരീക്ഷകൾ നടത്താനും, സ്വന്തം ബിരുദങ്ങൾ നൽകാനും അധികാരങ്ങളുള്ള ഒരു ഡീംഡ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി എന്ന പദവികൂടി ലഭിച്ചു. IITD യുടെ തുടക്കം മുതൽ, എഞ്ചിനീയറിംഗ്, ഫിസിക്കൽ സയൻസ്, മാനേജ്മെൻ്റ്, ഹ്യുമാനിറ്റീസ് & സോഷ്യൽ സയൻസസ് എന്നിവയുൾപ്പെടെ വിവിധ വിഷയങ്ങളിലായി 48000- ത്തിലധികം പേർ തങ്ങളുടെ ബിരുദ പഠനം പൂർത്തിയാക്കിയിട്ടുണ്ട്. ഇവരിൽ 5070 പേർ പിഎച്ച്ഡി യും നേടി. ഇത് കൂടാതെ 15738 -ഓളം വിദ്യാർഥികൾ തങ്ങളുടെ ബി.ടെക് ബിരുദവും പൂർത്തിയാക്കി. ഈ പൂർവ്വ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ ഇന്ന് ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞർ, സാങ്കേതിക വിദഗ്ധർ, ബിസിനസ് മാനേജർമാർ, സംരംഭകർ തുടങ്ങിയ നിലകളിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു. അവരിൽ ചിലർ തങ്ങളുടെ യഥാർത്ഥ വിഷയങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് മാറി അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേറ്റീവ് സേവനങ്ങളിലേക്കോ സജീവ രാഷ്ട്രീയത്തിലേക്കോ വഴിമാറി. ഇങ്ങനെ വിവിധങ്ങളായ മേഖലകളിൽ പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ നമ്മുടെ രാഷ്ട്രത്തിൻ്റെ വളർച്ചക്കും പുരോഗതിക്കും വേണ്ടി വളരെ അധികം സംഭാവനകൾ അവർ നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

Eligibility:
- The candidate must have a 4-year B.Tech./B.E. degree or an MSc./MCA degree in computer science or information technology, and have an excellent academic record. The candidate should have demonstrated adequate background in computer science (GATE in CS/IT) or extensive experience in computing (for part-time students).
- There are two different ways in which you can register for the M. Tech. programme in CSE at IITD:
Full-Time: The candidate resides on the IIT campus for the entire duration of the programme. The student should have an excellent valid GATE score in CS/IT.
Part-Time: The candidate should be working in an industry or organisation involved in computer science research/teaching and located within 50 km of NCR. The organization should certify that it has No Objection to the candidate pursuing this degree.

3. M.Sc in Cognitive Science
Eligibility:
- Any bachelor's degree. The minimum cut-off grade in the qualifying degree will be as per the existing norms for the other MSc programmes of the institute, reproduced below:
- At least 55% aggregate marks or 5.5 CGPA/CPI out of 10 without rounding-off (taking into account all subjects including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) for General/ OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/EWS category candidates (taking into account all subjects, including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) in the qualifying degree.
- For Candidates with letter grades / CGPA (instead of percentage of marks), the equivalence in percentage of marks will be decided by the Institute. For SC, ST and PD candidates, relaxation of 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA (on a ten-point scale) in the qualifying degree will be provided.

- Applicants with valid GATE/JAM/CSIR/JRF/NET scores (where applicable) would be waived from COGJET. (Note that new papers in HSS have been introduced in GATE from 2021).
- In addition, applicants from Centrally Funded Technological Institutes with a minimum CGPA of 8.0 and those with an MBBS degree from recognized institutions and universities are exempted from the COGJET/GATE/JAM/CSIR/JRF/NET requirement. Department of Management Studies
1. MBA:
Eligibility:
- The candidates having the following qualifications are eligible to apply for admission to the MBA programme
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent awarded by any of the universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. The bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification obtained by the candidate must entail a minimum of three years of education after completing higher secondary schooling (10+2) or equivalent.
- A minimum of 60% marks in aggregate (of all the years/semesters) or 6.00 CGPA on a 10 point scale or equivalent in the qualifying degree.
- A relaxation of 5% in marks (i.e. min. 55%) or equivalent in CGPA (i.e. min. 5.50 on a 10-point scale) for the SC/ST/PwD candidates.
- Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the programme provisionally, only if she/he submits a certificate by certain date.
- Those having applied to IIT Delhi MBA programmes on qualifying the CAT 2021 will be shortlisted and then invited for a interview, which will be held at IIT Delhi.

Eligibility:
- Following academic qualifications will be the eligibility criteria for admission.

- The B.Tech. programme in Textile Technology covers the development and characterization of the polymeric raw materials and methods of conversion of the same into textile materials followed by further value addition and appropriate engineering into niche products. Issues related to the management of the production facilities and marketing of the products are also covered adequately.

- The M.Tech. programme, in Textile Engineering, focuses on training for mechanical processing of textile fibres into various textile products. The M.Tech. programme in Fibre Science and Technology trains students for the manmade fibre industry as well as in the chemical processing of textile materials. M.Tech. programme on Textile Chemical Processing focuses on advanced science and technology used in wet processing and trains students for the Textile Chemical Processing industry.

Research Areas:
