സൂക്ഷ്മജീവികളുടെയും / അല്ലെങ്കിൽ അവയുടെ മെറ്റബോളിറ്റുകളുടെയും സ്വാധീനത്തിൽ അയിരുകൾ, സാന്ദ്രത, വ്യാവസായിക മാലിന്യങ്ങൾ,  മുതലായവയിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ലോഹ ഖനനം ഉൾപ്പെടുന്ന മേഖലയാണ് ബയോ മിനറൽ പ്രോസസിംഗ്.കോഴ്‌സിൽ ചേർന്ന വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ മെറ്റൽ അടങ്ങിയ അയിരുകൾ, കോൺസെൻട്രേറ്റർ ടൈലിംഗുകൾ, പുതുതായി ഖനനം ചെയ്ത റൺ-ഓഫ്-മൈൻ (റോം) മെറ്റീരിയൽ, മൈക്രോ ബയോളജിക്കൽ സാങ്കേതികവിദ്യ ഉപയോഗിച്ച് ഇന്റർമീഡിയറ്റ് മുതൽ ഉയർന്ന ഗ്രേഡ് അയിരുകൾ എന്നിവയുടെ പ്രോസസ്സിംഗ് പഠിക്കുന്നു.
