Overview
കേരളത്തിന്റെ പരമ്പരാഗത കലാരൂപങ്ങൾ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിനും പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുമുള്ള രാജ്യത്തെ പ്രമുഖ പൊതുസ്ഥാപനമാണ് കേരള കലാമണ്ഡലം. അതിന്റെ തുടക്കം മുതൽ, ലോകമെമ്പാടുമുള്ള കലാകാരന്മാർ, കലാ-പണ്ഡിതർ, ചരിത്രകാരന്മാർ, നാടക-കലാകാരന്മാർ/സംവിധായകർ, നൃത്തസംവിധായകർ, കലാപ്രേമികൾ എന്നിവരെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്ന പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു കൂട്ടമായിരുന്നു ഇത്. 1930-ൽ പ്രശസ്ത കവി പത്മഭൂഷൻ വള്ളത്തോൾ നാരായണ മേനോനും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ അടുത്ത അനുയായിയായിരുന്ന മണക്കുളം മുകുന്ദരാജും ചേർന്ന് കക്കാട് കാരണവപ്പാടിന്റെ രക്ഷാധികാരത്തിൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതാണ് ഈ സ്ഥാപനം.

2.XI – XII Plus Two (2 Year)
Eligibility
- Those who get minimum 60% marks in AHSLC examination are eligible for admission to the Plus Two Course.
- Students below the age of 20 on June 1, 2022, who have passed Class X, will get Plus One admission in Kalamandalam. SC / ST students will get two years exemption.

1.Bachelor of Arts
Eligibility
- A pass in the Plus Two examination or its equivalent with a minimum of D+ Grade is the qualification to apply for admission to the course.
Procedure Of Selection
- The applicants will be ranked on the basis of marks obtained by them in the practical examination and admission will be made on the basis of seniority in the rank list
2.Master Of Arts
Eligibility
- A minimum of ‘C+’ Grade under CBCSS or 45% marks in Degree examination or equivalent.
- Degree in the subject concerned recognized by the Universities in Kerala are eligible for Admission. In the absence of eligible candidates those who have undergone practice in concerned subject through traditional method and shown his/her efficiency in the subject also will be considered depending on the basis of certificates form accredited agencies/institution, competition at district/state/national level and performance in the test and interview and recommendation by the admission committee consisting of Head of Department.

- The applicants will be ranked on the basis of marks obtained by them in the practical examination and admission will be made on the basis of seniority in the rank list.

Eligibility
- Candidates who possess Master’s Degree in the subject concerned or in related/ allied subjects with not less than 55% Marks/B+ Grade of this University or equivalent Degree of any other Indian or Foreign University recognised by the University are eligible to apply for the Integrated M.Phil-Ph.D. Programme.
- SC/ST candidates need a minimum of 50% marks only or B grade in their Masters Degree. Candidates who are awaiting results of their qualifying examinations can also apply, but they shall produce their P.G. Marklists and Provisional Certificates at the time of Interview.The maximum age of the applicants for admission to the Intergrated MPhil/PhD program shall be 35(Thirty five) as on the date of notification, granting excemption to Direct Ph.D.
Procedure of Selection
- Admission to the M.Phil-Ph.D. Programme shall be on the basis of an entrance examination, which will include a written aptitude test and an interview conducted by the Research Committee of the University. UGC-JRF holders, teachers of the University and teachers of Government and Aided Colleges with a minimum of two published works in referred journals and candidates with M.Phil in the subject areas relating to Performing Arts and Cultural Studies are exempted from the written test.

Training in Performing Arts
- Kalamandalam offers special training in the performing arts taught here to aspirants from outside Kerala and abroad. Those who are interested can send application and C.V. to Registrar, Kalamandalam. Preferably the applicants should have instinct for music / dance, either classical or contemporary. Registrar, Kalamandalam, will scrutinise the application and the eligible candidates will receive Admission Letters.
