Overview
രാജ്യത്തെ സർവ്വകലാശാലകളിലും ഉന്നത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലും അലിഗഡ് മുസ്ലീം യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി (AMU) സവിശേഷമായ ഒരു സ്ഥാനം വഹിക്കുന്നു. 1920-ൽ ആണ് അലിഗഡ് മുസ്ലീം യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി സ്ഥാപിതമായത്. മഹത്തായ ദർശകനും സാമൂഹിക പരിഷ്കർത്താവുമായ സർ സയ്യിദ് അഹമ്മദ് ഖാൻ 1877-ൽ സ്ഥാപിച്ച മുഹമ്മദൻ ആംഗ്ലോ-ഓറിയന്റൽ കോളേജ് (എംഎഒ കോളേജ്) ആണ് പിന്നീട് അലിഗഡ് മുസ്ലീം യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി ആയി മാറിയത്. ഇന്ത്യയിലെ മികച്ച 20 ഗവേഷണ സർവകലാശാലകളിൽ എട്ടാം സ്ഥാനത്താണ് AMU.
