തമിഴ്നാട് നാഷണൽ ലോ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി (റ്റിഎൻഎൻഎൽയു) ആഗോള തലത്തിൽ ഗുണനിലവാരമുള്ള നിയമവിദ്യാഭ്യാസം നൽകുന്നതിനായി സംസ്ഥാന നിയമസഭാ നിയമം (2012 ലെ നിയമം നമ്പർ 9) പ്രകാരം തമിഴ്നാട് സർക്കാർ സ്ഥാപിച്ചതാണ്. 2012 ഫെബ്രുവരി 13-ന് തറക്കല്ലിട്ട മുൻ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രി ഡോ. ജെ ജയലളിതയുടെ ആശയമാണ് ടിഎൻഎൻഎൽയു. റോക്ക് ഫോർട്ട് സിറ്റി എന്നറിയപ്പെടുന്ന തിരുച്ചിറപ്പള്ളി റോഡ്, റെയിൽ, വ്യോമ മാർഗങ്ങളിലൂടെ നന്നായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ചെന്നൈ, ബാംഗ്ലൂർ, മുംബൈ, കൊച്ചി എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ നിന്ന് ട്രിച്ചിക്ക് പ്രതിദിന വിമാനങ്ങളുണ്ട്. നല്ല ബന്ധിത വിമാനത്താവളമായ മധുരൈയിലേക്ക് ടിഎൻഎൻഎൽയുവിൽ നിന്ന് ഒന്നര മണിക്കൂർ റോഡ് മാർഗമുണ്ട്. അഭിഭാഷകവൃത്തി, നിയമസേവനങ്ങൾ, നിയമനിർമ്മാണം, നിയമപരിഷ്കാരങ്ങൾ തുടങ്ങിയവയുമായി ബന്ധപ്പെട്ട് കഴിവുകൾ വികസിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് നിയമമേഖലയിൽ സമൂഹത്തെ സേവിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ഉത്തരവാദിത്തബോധം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളിലും ഗവേഷകരിലും വളർത്തിയെടുക്കുക, നിയമപരിജ്ഞാനം പ്രോത്സാഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനും നിയമപരവും നിയമപരവുമായ പ്രക്രിയകളെ സാമൂഹിക വികസനത്തിന്റെ കാര്യക്ഷമമായ ഉപകരണങ്ങളാക്കി മാറ്റുന്നതിന് പ്രഭാഷണങ്ങളും സെമിനാറുകളും സിമ്പോസിയങ്ങളും കോൺഫറൻസുകളും സംഘടിപ്പിക്കുക, പരീക്ഷകൾ നടത്തുകയും ബിരുദങ്ങളും മറ്റ് അക്കാദമിക് ഡിസ്റ്റൻഷനുകളും നൽകുകയും സർവ്വകലാശാലയുടെ എല്ലാ അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഏതെങ്കിലും ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങളും കൈവരിക്കുന്നതിന് ആകസ്മികമോ ആവശ്യമായതോ സഹായകമായതോ ആയ എല്ലാ കാര്യങ്ങളും ചെയ്യുക എന്നിവയാണ് റ്റിഎൻഎൻഎൽയു -ന്റെ പ്രധാന ലക്ഷ്യങ്ങൾ. വിപുലമായ അടിസ്ഥാന സൗകര്യങ്ങൾ, അഡ്മിനിസ്ട്രേഷൻ, അക്കാദമിക് പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങൾ, പരീക്ഷ, ലൈബ്രറി, പുരുഷന്മാർക്കും സ്ത്രീകൾക്കും വേണ്ടിയുള്ള റസിഡൻസ് ഹാളുകൾ, ഓഡിറ്റോറിയം, സ്റ്റാഫ് ക്വാർട്ടേഴ്‌സ്, ഗസ്റ്റ് ഹൗസ് എന്നിവയ്‌ക്ക് പ്രത്യേക കെട്ടിടങ്ങളും കാമ്പസിൽ ലഭ്യമാണ്.

Programmes Offered

 B.A. LL.B.(Hons.)

  • The regular, full time programme is based on semester pattern. It is spread through ten semesters which encompasses wide ranging activities such as research projects, moot court exercises, interdisciplinary lectures and compulsory internships upon completion of which the degree is awarded.

Eligibility

  • Completion of Higher Secondary (Plustwo) examination with 45% (40%in case SC/ST).

Entrance Examination

  • Admissions to the undergraduate programme shall be in accordance with the scores obtained in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) only.

2. B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.)

3. LLM

The one year Post Graduate programme is a regular, full time intensive programme based on semester pattern. As per UGC guidelines, a candidate admitted into the programme shall complete an overall nine courses and a dissertation for the award of the degree.

  • LL.M. (Natural Resources Laws)


Eligibility

  • Three or five year LL.B./or its equivalent with not less than 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST students) Intake

Entrance Examination

  • The admission shall be based on the marks attained through the Common Law Admission Test(CLAT) only.

4. Ph.D

  • The University shall offer its Ph.D. programme in both full-time and part-time modes. However, ordinarily, the enrolment for the Ph.D programme in the University shall be in full-time mode and where the full-time mode of study is not possible for the candidates then such candidates can register their Ph.D. programme on a part-time mode subject to the terms of the Regulations.

Eligibility

  • The Candidate should have a Master's degree in Law or an equivalent professional degree approved by the Bar Council of India or the UGC, from time to time, with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever any other grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% of marks, that is, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer) or ‘Differently Abled’ and such other candidates as may be notified by the UGC and Government of Tamil Nadu from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master's degree before 19th September 1991.
    Or
  • The candidate should have an M.Phil. degree (with course work) and not less than 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade (as mentioned above, wherever grading system is followed). A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of the grade may be allowed as mentioned in Regulation 2.1. (a). Further, subject to the Regulations, a Candidate may also be admitted to the Ph.D. programme if his/her M.Phil. dissertation is evaluated, but the vivavoce examination is pending, provided that such M.Phil programme is pursued from TNNLU or in the University or institution that has a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with TNNLU. Explanation: the eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned in Regulation 2.1. (a) and (b) are considered solely for qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.
    Or
  • The candidate should have a law degree (LL.B.) as well as passed the Company Secretary Examination conducted by the Institute of Company Secretaries of India and shall have the Associate Membership of the Institute. Importantly, the research proposed by such a candidate should be inter-disciplinary in its design and approach.
    Or
  • The candidate should have a law degree (LL.B.) and additionally passed the final examination of Chartered Accountants conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Besides, the research proposed by such a candidate shall be inter-disciplinary in its design and approach.
    Or
  • The candidate should be a faculty member (either a regular or parttime teacher) of the TNNLU and shall fulfil the relevant conditions as to the eligibility for admission into Ph.D. Programme.
