ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് സയൻസ് എജ്യുക്കേഷൻ ആൻഡ് റിസർച്ച് (IISER) പൂനെ അടിസ്ഥാന ശാസ്ത്രങ്ങളിൽ ഗവേഷണത്തിനും അധ്യാപനത്തിനും വേണ്ടി സമർപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഒരു പ്രധാന സ്ഥാപനമാണ്. ഇത് 2006-ൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായത് മാനവ വിഭവശേഷി വികസന മന്ത്രാലയം (2020 ഓഗസ്റ്റിൽ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മന്ത്രാലയം എന്ന് പുനർനാമകരണം ചെയ്തു). 2012-ൽ പാർലമെന്റിന്റെ നിയമപ്രകാരം IISER പൂനെയെ ദേശീയ പ്രാധാന്യമുള്ള ഒരു സ്ഥാപനമായി പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചു.ഇന്ത്യയിലെ ശാസ്ത്ര വിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിലെ ഒരു അതുല്യ സംരംഭമെന്ന നിലയിൽ, അത്യാധുനിക ഗവേഷണവും ഉയർന്ന നിലവാരമുള്ള വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും ഉപയോഗിച്ച്, അധ്യാപനത്തിനും ഗവേഷണത്തിനും  സമർപ്പിതമായ ഏറ്റവും ഉയർന്ന നിലവാരമുള്ള ഒരു സയൻസ് യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയാണ് IISER ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നത്.

Programs offered

  • All branches of the sciences, viz, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology with a few courses from Earth Sciences, Humanities, and courses of a trans-disciplinary or foundational nature.

1.BS-MS programme

Eligibility

  • Admission to the BS-MS programme at IISER Pune is coordinated through a pan-IISER Joint Admissions Committee for all IISERs across India and is coordinated centrally through this portal.
  • Candidates who have passed Plus Two or equivalent level exam with science stream in current year of application or the year before are eligible to apply for admissions.

Entrance Examination

  • Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojana (KVPY) channel.
  • Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology
  • State and Central Boards Channel (SCB)

 2. Integrated PhD (i-PhD) programme

  • The i-PhD programme is currently offered in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics.

Eligibility

Biology :

  • Students having Bachelor's or equivalent degree in any one of the following disciplines: Biological Sciences / Biodiversity / Chemistry / Ecology and Environmental Sciences / Mathematics / Physics / Pharmacy / Medical Sciences / Engineering (BE/ B.Tech.) from a recognized university or institute.
  • Candidates should have obtained minimum 60% marks in bachelor’s degree to be eligible for admission.There is a relaxation of 5% marks for reserved category candidates (SC/ ST).
  • Applicants in the final year of their Bachelor's degree are also eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must have qualified JGEEBILS exam.

Chemistry

  • Applicants should have B. Sc. Degree in Chemistry, Physics and Biology from a recognized institute or university to be eligible for PhD admission.
  • The minimum marks required to be eligible for admission is 60% (For SC/ ST).
  • Candidates who are in the final year of qualifying degree, who have to appear for the final exams can also apply for Int. PhD program.
  • Additional Criteria: Candidates with rank No. 800 or less in JAM (Chemistry) can apply for the Integrated Ph. D. program in Chemistry.

Mathematics

  • Students with minimum 60% marks in aggregate or CGPA 6 out of 10 point in B.Sc. in any specialization can apply for Integrated Ph.D. Program in Mathematics.
  • Candidates belonging to reserved category (SC/ ST) need 55% marks only.
  • Additional Criteria: Applicants must have qualify any of the entrance exam JAM in MA or MS only/ NBHM.

Physics

  • Students should have B.Sc./ B.Tech/ B.E degree from a recognized university or institute.
  • Applicants need minimum 60% marks in graduation degree to be eligible for admission process.
  • There is relaxation of 5% marks for reserved category candidates (SC/ ST).
  • Rank better than or equal to 500 in either JAM (Physics) or JEST (Physics).

Entrance examinations

3.PhD Programmes

  • IISER Pune admits students to doctoral programmes in Biology, Chemistry, Data Science, Earth, and Climate Science, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mathematics, and Physics.

Eligibility

  • Students with a master’s degree in Science / Mathematics or a four-year bacherlor degree with at least 60% marks (aggregate) are encouraged to apply to our PhD programme.
  • In addition to the qualifying degree, we expect the students to have qualified a national examination such as CSIR-UGC NET/GATE/JEST/NBHM/JGEEBILS
    Depending on their area of research interest. Students will be selected to the PhD programme based on performance in the interviews.

4.Externally funded PhD programmes

Eligibility

  • The educational qualifications remain the same as for the regular candidates. (Master's Degree in Science/ B.Tech/ M.Tech/ B.Pharm/ M.Pharm/ BS-MS degree with minimum 60% aggregate marks [marks relaxation for reserved category students])
  • Only persons engaged in R & D work in Technical / Scientific Institutions/ Industries or R & D Establishments are eligible.Sponsorship
    The candidates must be officially sponsored by their employing organisations. This sponsorship should be obtained at the time of submitting the application itself. In the absence of this, the application will be rejected.
  • Age: No age restriction

5.International PHD programmes

 Eligibility

  • Only nationals of countries other than India can apply for this programme. At the time of admission, the applicants for the PhD programme must have completed a 4-year undergraduate degree or a master’s degree from an institution located outside India, while applicants for integrated PhD programme must have a 3- or 4-year undergraduate degree from an institution located outside India.
