2010 നവംബറിലാണ് നളന്ദ സർവകലാശാല സ്ഥാപിതമായത്.ഇന്ത്യൻ പാർലമെന്റിന്റെ ഒരു നിയമം (നളന്ദ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി ആക്റ്റ് 2010) വഴിയാണ് സർവ്വകലാശാല നിലവിൽ വന്നത്.പുതിയ ഏഷ്യൻ നവോത്ഥാനത്തിന്റെ പ്രതീകമായാണ് നളന്ദ സർവകലാശാല വിഭാവനം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.ഭൗതികവും ദാർശനികവും ചരിത്രപരവും ആത്മീയവുമായ പഠനങ്ങൾക്കായി നിലകൊള്ളുന്ന ഒരു അന്താരാഷ്ട്ര സ്ഥാപനമാണ് നളന്ദ യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി.
