Overview

പോണ്ടിച്ചേരി യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റി, PU എന്നും അറിയപ്പെടുന്നു, ഇന്ത്യയിലെ കേന്ദ്രഭരണ പ്രദേശമായ പുതുച്ചേരിയിലെ പോണ്ടിച്ചേരിയിലെ കാലാപേട്ടിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന ഒരു കൊളീജിയറ്റ് പൊതു കേന്ദ്ര സർവ്വകലാശാലയാണ്. ഇന്ത്യാ ഗവൺമെന്റിന്റെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ മന്ത്രാലയത്തിലെ ഉന്നത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ വകുപ്പ് 1985-ൽ പാർലമെന്റിന്റെ ഒരു നിയമപ്രകാരം ഇത് സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. ഇന്ത്യയുടെ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡന്റാണ് ചാൻസലറിനൊപ്പം പുതുച്ചേരി ലെഫ്റ്റനന്റ് ഗവർണറും ചീഫ് റെക്ടറായി പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നു, ഇന്ത്യൻ രാഷ്ട്രപതി സർവകലാശാലയുടെ സന്ദർശകനുമാണ്. തമിഴ്നാട് (പോണ്ടിച്ചേരി, കാരക്കൽ), കേരളം (മാഹി), ആന്ധ്രാപ്രദേശ് (യാനം), ആൻഡമാൻ നിക്കോബാർ ദ്വീപുകൾ എന്നിവിടങ്ങളിൽ സ്ഥിതി ചെയ്യുന്ന കേന്ദ്രഭരണ പ്രദേശമായ പുതുച്ചേരിയിൽ വ്യാപിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്ന ഒരു കൊളീജിയറ്റ് സർവ്വകലാശാലയാണ് ഈ സർവ്വകലാശാല. മൂന്ന് കേന്ദ്രഭരണ പ്രദേശങ്ങളിലെ വിശാലമായ അധികാരപരിധി സർവകലാശാലയ്ക്ക് ഒരു ദേശീയ സ്വഭാവം നൽകുന്നു. താമസക്കാർ ഇംഗ്ലീഷ്, തമിഴ്, ഫ്രഞ്ച്, തെലുങ്ക്, മലയാളം, ഹിന്ദി, ബംഗാളി, ഒറിയ, കന്നഡ എന്നിങ്ങനെ വിവിധ ഭാഷകൾ സംസാരിക്കുന്നു.
