കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ സയൻസിലെ ഒരു സബ്‌സ്ട്രീമായി കണക്കാക്കപ്പെടുന്ന ഇൻഫർമേഷൻ ടെക്‌നോളജി (ഐടി) യിലെ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക മേഖലയാണ് സൈബർ സുരക്ഷ. കമ്പ്യൂട്ടർ ഓപ്പറേറ്റിംഗ് സിസ്റ്റങ്ങൾ, നെറ്റ്‌വർക്കുകൾ, സൈബർ ആക്രമണങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ഡാറ്റ എന്നിവ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാൻ ആവശ്യമായ അറിവും നൈപുണ്യവും നൽകി വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെ സജ്ജമാക്കുക എന്നതാണ് സൈബർ സുരക്ഷാ കോഴ്‌സുകൾ ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നത്.സൈബർ സുരക്ഷ ഒരു തൊഴിലായി കാലങ്ങളായി വികസിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു, കാരണം സൈബർ കുറ്റകൃത്യങ്ങളുടെ വർധനവാണ്.ഓൺലൈനിൽ ഇടപാട് നടത്തുന്നതോ സെൻസിറ്റീവ് ഡാറ്റ വഹിക്കുന്നതോ ആയ ഏതൊരു വ്യവസായത്തിനും അത്തരം കുറ്റവാളികളിൽ നിന്ന് അതിൻ്റെ സംരക്ഷിക്കുന്നതിന് ഒരു സൈബർ സെക്യൂരിറ്റി പ്രൊഫഷണൽ ആവശ്യമാണ്. ലോകത്തിൻ്റെ എല്ലാ കോണുകളിൽ നിന്നും ആർക്കും പ്രവേശിക്കാവുന്ന ഒരു പൊതു പ്ലാറ്റ്ഫോമാണ് സൈബർസ്പേസ്, സൈബർ സുരക്ഷയുടെ വ്യാപ്തി ലോകമെമ്പാടും ഒരുപോലെ വ്യാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.സൈബർ സുരക്ഷ ബിരുദധാരികൾക്ക് സർക്കാർ, സ്വകാര്യ മേഖലകളിലെ തൊഴിലവസരങ്ങൾ എളുപ്പത്തിൽ പ്രയോജനപ്പെടുത്താൻ സാധിക്കും.
