2015-ൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ പാലക്കാട് ഇന്ത്യൻ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ടെക്‌നോളജി, വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കും അധ്യാപകർക്കും അറിവിന്റെ അന്വേഷണത്തിൽ ഏർപ്പെടാനും സ്വപ്നം കാണാനും ചിന്തിക്കാനും നവീകരിക്കാനും അതുവഴി മെച്ചപ്പെട്ട ലോകത്തിനായുള്ള മാറ്റത്തിന്റെ ഏജന്റുമാരാകുന്ന ഒരു അന്തരീക്ഷം സൃഷ്ടിക്കാൻ പ്രതിജ്ഞാബദ്ധമാണ്. 2015 ജൂലൈയിൽ വെറും 120 വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുമായി ആരംഭിച്ച ഐഐടി പാലക്കാട് ആയിരത്തോളം വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ ശക്തരും പ്രധാന സ്ഥാനങ്ങളിൽ മികച്ച മനുഷ്യശേഷിയുള്ളതുമായ ഒരു സ്ഥാപനമായി വളർന്നു. പത്താം വർഷത്തോടെ 5000 വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളുള്ള മൾട്ടി ഡിസിപ്ലിനറി സ്ഥാപനമായി മാറാനാണ് പാലക്കാട് ഐഐടി ലക്ഷ്യമിടുന്നത്. വ്യവസായവുമായും മറ്റ് അക്കാദമിക് സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളുമായും സഹകരിച്ച് കൂട്ടായ വളർച്ചയെ ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് കാലഘട്ടത്തിന്റെ ആവശ്യകതയായി അംഗീകരിക്കുകയും സാങ്കേതിക വികസനത്തിന്റെ രണ്ട് അവശ്യ സ്തംഭങ്ങളായി നീല-ആകാശ ഗവേഷണത്തിനും ഗവേഷണത്തിനും ഊന്നൽ നൽകുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. ക്രോസ്-ഡിസിപ്ലിനറി അന്വേഷണങ്ങളിൽ ഒരു നേതാവാകാനും ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ഡെമോഗ്രാഫിക് ഡിവിഡന്റ് രാജ്യത്തിനും ലോകത്തിനും പ്രതിനിധീകരിക്കുന്ന സാധ്യതകളിലേക്ക് സംഭാവന ചെയ്യാനുമുള്ള ഒരു ദർശനം ഇത് ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നു, ഇത് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ടിന്റെ മുദ്രാവാക്യത്തിൽ ഉൾക്കൊള്ളുന്നു.

1.Masters Programme in Physics

Eligibility 

  • Admission to the M.Sc course in Physics will be offered to those who have qualified in the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM).  The candidates qualifying in JAM will have to satisfy the eligibility requirement for admission into the M.Sc in Physics programme at IIT Palakkad.  
  • All candidates admitted through JAM should have a Bachelor's degree with Physics as a subject for at least 2 years / 4 semesters, and Mathematics for at least 1 year / 2 semesters.  
  • In the qualifying degree, the aggregate marks or CGPA/CPI without rounding off (taking into account all subjects including languages and subsidiaries, all years combined) should be at least 55%, or 5.5 out of 10 for General/OBC(NCL)/EWS category candidates, and 50%, or 5 out of 10 for SC/ST/PwD category candidates. 

2.Ph.D Programme in Physics

Eligibility 

  • Candidates having a Master's degree in Sciences with a good academic record and (1) having a valid GATE score, or (2) UGC/CSIR/INSPIRE, or (3) other similar National Level Fellowships or equivalent qualification in the relevant area may apply. 
  • Selection of candidates occur based on their performance on a PhD entrance examination followed by an interview. Master's degree holders in Engineering/Technology are also eligible. 
  • Candidates who have qualified for the award of Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology from a Centrally Funded Technical Institute (CFTI) with an exceptionally good academic record in an appropriate discipline will be considered for direct admission to Ph.D. in Sciences provided he/she has a minimum CGPA of 8/10 (7.5 for OBC- NCL and 7.0 for SC/ST/PwD on a 10.0 point scale).
