പശ്ചിമ ബംഗാളിലെ നാദിയ ജില്ലയിലെ ഒരു സ്വയംഭരണ ഗവേഷണ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ സ്ഥാപനമാണ് IISER കൊൽക്കത്ത. 2006-ൽ ഇന്ത്യാ ഗവൺമെന്റ് ഓഫ് ഹ്യൂമൻ റിസോഴ്‌സ് ഡെവലപ്‌മെന്റ് (MHRD) ആണ് ഇത് സ്ഥാപിച്ചത്. ഉന്നതവിദ്യാഭ്യാസത്തിന് തുല്യ ഊന്നൽ നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട് ബിരുദതലത്തിലും ബിരുദതലത്തിലും അടിസ്ഥാന ശാസ്ത്രത്തിലെ ഗവേഷണത്തിലെ മികവ് ലക്ഷ്യമിട്ടാണ് ഇൻസ്റ്റിറ്റ്യൂട്ട് സ്ഥാപിതമായത്. IISER കൊൽക്കത്ത പ്രവേശനം കിഷോർ വൈജ്ഞാനിക് പ്രോത്സാഹൻ യോജന (KVPY), JEE എന്നിവ വഴിയാണ് നടത്തുന്നത്.അടിസ്ഥാന ശാസ്ത്രങ്ങളിലെ അധ്യാപനവും വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും അത്യാധുനിക ഗവേഷണങ്ങളുമായി സമ്പൂർണ്ണമായി സംയോജിപ്പിക്കുന്ന ഏറ്റവും ഉയർന്ന തലത്തിലുള്ള ഗവേഷണ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങൾ സൃഷ്ടിക്കുക എന്നതാണ് ഈ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളുടെ ലക്‌ഷ്യം . ഈ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങൾ ബൗദ്ധികമായി ഊർജസ്വലമായ ഗവേഷണ അന്തരീക്ഷത്തിൽ സയൻസസിലെ ബിരുദ-ബിരുദാനന്തര അധ്യാപനത്തിനായി നീക്കിവച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു, കൂടാതെ സംയോജിത അധ്യാപനത്തിലും ശാസ്ത്ര പഠനത്തിലും അവസരങ്ങൾ നൽകിക്കൊണ്ട് അടിസ്ഥാന ശാസ്ത്രങ്ങളിലെ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസവും കരിയറും കൂടുതൽ ആകർഷകമാക്കുന്നു.
Programmes Offered
1.5 Year BS-MS Dual Degree Programme
- BS-MS Dual Degree Programme in Biological, Chemical, Geological, Mathematical and Physical Sciences.
Eligibility
- Plus Two (Candidates who have passed 10+2 or equivalent level exam with science stream in 2021 or 2022 from any board recognized by Council of Boards of School Education in India (COBSE) and have scored within the category-wise cut-off are eligible to apply for admissions to IISER only through the following three channels:
Entrance Examination

- Joint Entrance Examination (JEE-Advanced) of the Indian Institutes of Technology
- State and Central Boards Channel (SCB)
2.MS in Space Physics
Eligibility
- BE/BTech Graduates (satisfying declared eligibility criteria in the admission call)

4.Doctor of Philosophy Programme
- The Institute offers PhD Program in the following five broad disciplines – Biological Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Computational and Data Sciences, Earth Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciencest, Mathematics & Statistics, Physical Sciences and Space Sciences.

5.Post Doctoral Research Programme
- IISER Kolkata has provisions for post-doctoral research in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical, Physical and Earth Sciences. Individual Departments invites applications depending on the vacancies and scope of work. Such positions are also advertised through and funded by individual faculty members.
Eligibility:
- The applicant must have obtained PhD degree from a recognized University/ Institute in India or abroad. Those who have submitted their PhD thesis and are awaiting award of the degree are also eligible to apply, on producing a thesis submission certificate. However, such candidates, if selected, will be offered lower fellowship amount till they qualify the eligible degree or till he/she produces at least a provisional certificate of successful thesis defense. A candidate may also apply if his/her supervisor certifies that the thesis will be submitted before the joining date. However, such persons, if selected, will be allowed to join only if he/she submits the thesis within the specified deadline for joining.
