Overview
1986-ൽ ഇന്ത്യയിൽ സ്ഥാപിതമായ ആദ്യത്തെ ദേശീയ നിയമ സർവ്വകലാശാലയാണ് NLSIU. നിയമവിദ്യാഭ്യാസ പരിഷ്കരണങ്ങൾക്ക് തുടക്കമിടുക, ഗവേഷണത്തിലൂടെയും നയപരമായ ഇടപെടലുകളിലൂടെയും ഇന്ത്യൻ നിയമവ്യവസ്ഥയുടെ പരിവർത്തനത്തിന് ആങ്കർ നൽകുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെയാണ് പ്രീമിയർ ലോ സ്കൂൾ സ്ഥാപിച്ചത്. തൽഫലമായി, 1988-ൽ ആദ്യ ബാച്ച് ആരംഭിച്ചതോടെ ബിരുദതലത്തിൽ അഞ്ച് വർഷത്തെ സംയോജിത നിയമ ബിരുദം അവതരിപ്പിച്ച രാജ്യത്തെ ആദ്യത്തെ സ്ഥാപനങ്ങളിലൊന്നാണ് എൻഎൽഎസ്ഐയു. 30 വർഷത്തിലേറെയായി, രാജ്യത്തെ നിയമവിദ്യാഭ്യാസരംഗത്ത് സർവകലാശാല മികച്ച പ്രവർത്തനം തുടരുന്നു. ഈ ദീർഘകാല റെക്കോർഡ് സാധ്യമായത് ലീഗൽ അക്കാദമിക്, ബാർ, ബെഞ്ച്, കർണാടക സംസ്ഥാന സർക്കാർ എന്നിവ തമ്മിലുള്ള ശക്തമായ സഹകരണം മൂലമാണ്.

Eligibility
- A Pass in Plus two or an equivalent examination with a minimum of:Forty Five percent (45%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD categories andForty percent (40%) of marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.Entrance ExaminationThe candidate will have to appear for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) to secure admission to the programme
2.LLB (Hons) - 3 years
Eligibility
- Any person holding a Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized national or international University is eligible to apply to the programme. Applicants in the general category should have graduated with an aggregate of not less than 45% of total marks. Applicants in the SC/ST category should have graduated with an aggregate of not less than 40% of total marks.Students in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree are also eligible to apply. However, their final offer of admission will be contingent upon successful completion of their Bachelor’s degree with the minimum aggregate marks specified above.
Entrance Examination
- All candidates seeking admission to the programme shall appear for the NLSAT.
3. LL.M - 1 year
Eligibility
- The candidate must have an LL.B. Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum of:Fifty percent (50%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to General/OBC/PWD categories, andForty five percent (45%) of marks or its equivalent grade in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST categories.
Entrance Examination
- The candidate will have to appear for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) to secure admission into the postgraduate programme.
4. Ph.D in Law
- The Ph.D in Law programme is designed for post-graduate students who wish to advance their studies through research in lawEligibilityCandidates having LL.M. Degree (regular mode) from a recognized University securing an aggregate of 55% marks or its equivalent grade (50% of marks or its equivalent grade in case of SC/ST/PWD).

5. Ph.D Interdisciplinary Programme
- The Interdisciplinary Ph.D programme in NLSIU involves research in law and its intersection with other disciplines – economics, sociology, political science, and history, among others. While, increasingly, research involves interdisciplinary approaches to arrive at a more comprehensive perspective and solution for a particular problem, some areas of legal research may inherently involve other disciplinesEligibilityA master’s degree in any discipline through regular mode with a minimum of 55% or equivalent grade (50% of marks or its equivalent grade in case of SC/ST/PWD), and a Bachelor’s in Law (LL.B.) degree from a recognized University through regular mode; orA candidate having passed the Company Secretaryship examination conducted by the ICS in India and having been awarded Associate Membership of the Institute (ACS), and a Bachelor’s in Law (LL.B.) degree from a recognized University through regular mode; orA candidate having passed the Chartered Accountants examination conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants and having been awarded Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and a Bachelor’s in Law (LL.B.) degree from a recognized University through regular mode.
