- This program is being offered in four streams namely, Systems Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematical Sciences. There will be common core courses in the first two years for all the streams. As the program has flexibility, you have the freedom to change from one stream to the other before you complete the first two years subject to certain availability conditions in the other streams.

- The M.A. program extends over four semesters and bears 72 credits, of which 56 credits are awarded for core courses and 16 credits for elective courses (4 of which may be obtained from other departments).

- The Ph. D. program normally extends from two to five years from the date of admission. Applicants for admission into the Ph.D. program must submit, at the time of the interview, a brief research proposal.

- In this program, the Department offers courses at two levels. At the basic level, it offers core courses in the classical schools of Indian and Western Philosophy, Ethics, and Logic.
Ph.D. Philosophy
- The Ph.D.program aims at developing original research in diverse fields of philosophy. It encourages interdisciplinary research. The research scholars are required to write a dissertation on a topic of their choice in consultation with the supervisor.
Department of Hindi
MA Hindi
- Extended over four semesters, this program provides instruction and guidance for acquiring knowledge in various new fields of Hindi language and literature without entirely neglecting the old and medieval texts and offers wide scope for elective studies.

Ph.D. in Hindi
- This is a Research programme with a Coursework of 16 credits in the first year. All the research Scholars are required to submit a thesis within 5 years from the date of admission.

- The M.A. program in Telugu is of four‑semester duration with all the important areas of study. There are 16 core courses with 52 credits, and a wide range of 21 optional courses with 3 credits each spread over four semesters.
Ph.D. in Telugu
- The Ph.D. program is entirely a research program oriented toward studies in classical and modern Telugu literature, comparative literature and culture, history, literary movements, and Language studies.

- The course is devised to provide advanced training to students who have had intensive training in dance for at least five years prior to admission. It is aimed to give a clear understanding of the dance forms which would help the students not only to dance in the style of their choice with greater felicity but also to undertake choreographic work in that style; they are encouraged to take up both individual and group work for choreography.

- The doctoral program offers scope for students and scholars to specialize in minute niche fields of dance. The programme is administered as per UGC norms.

MFA in Painting /Print Making/Sculpture
- The MFA programs in Painting, Print Making, and Sculpture disciplines respectively are two-year courses meant for students with a BFA/BVA to develop their personal language and consolidate their position as practitioners in the field of Contemporary Indian Art. The courses are designed to equip students with the practical, conceptual, and theoretical skills required to pursue their careers as professionals in this field.
MFA in Art History and Visual Studies
- The Department of Fine Arts began offering a two-year MFA degree in Art History and Visual Studies since 2010, to complement and strengthen the strong Art Practice disciplines of our existing program. It is meant for students with a BFA/BVA degree, who wish to continue to pursue their interests in the historical, textual, critical, and theoretical dimensions of artistic practices and traditions.

- The Masters in Performing Arts program is a rigorous, full-time three-year course. This course trains the students in practical and theoretical work so that they understand and practice theatre as a unique form of artistic communication.
Ph.D. Theatre Arts
- The focus of the Doctoral Program in Theatre Arts is to generate a knowledge base in the area of Performance research and practice of theatre. Performance is seen as an inclusive field encompassing all the genres of performance from traditional to contemporary and explored in the backdrop of constituent and frontier domains like history, language, literature, anthropology, cultural studies, folklore, music, and management in the social and historical context.

- This is a four-semester program based on a choice-based credits system. In addition to crediting several theoretical and laboratory-based core courses, a student needs to choose from a wide variety of foundation courses and elective courses.
Integrated MSc-Ph.D. Biochemistry and Molecular Biology
- This is a 5-year program extendable up to a maximum of 8 years. During the initial 2 years, students will be involved in an extensive course work, which needs to be completed before continuing to the Ph.D. stream. The course structure is similar but not identical to that of M. Sc. Biochemistry consisting of core courses, foundation courses, and elective courses.
Ph.D. in Biochemistry
- This is a 5-year program extendable up to a maximum of 6 years according to UGC regulations. They will carry out their work under the supervision of a faculty member and are advised by a doctoral committee.
Department of Plant Sciences

M.Sc. Plant Biology and Biotechnology
- The course is a four-semester program that is evaluated based on a credit system. A total of 11 core courses, four elective courses, three practical courses, and a project have to be completed successfully by the students in the four semesters. The core courses offered during the four semesters are Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Macromolecules Structure, and Function, Microbiology (I Semester); Plant Physiology, Environmental Biotechnology, Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering, Plant Biochemistry (II Semester); Genomics and Proteomics, Plant Developmental Biology, Plant Biotechnology (III Semester).
M.Sc. Molecular Microbiology
- The course is a four-semester program that is evaluated based on the credit system. A total of 11 core courses, four elective courses, three practical courses, and a project have to be completed successfully by the students in the four semesters.
Ph.D. Plant Sciences
- The Ph.D. program requires a minimum of 2 years of residence from the date of confirmation of admission. The requirement for the award of a Ph.D. includes the submission of a thesis on an approved topic of research under the guidance of a faculty member.
Department of Animal Biology

- The curriculum of the course is a perfect mix of basic and modern aspects of Animal Biotechnology. - This flagship course was introduced in the year 1990 under the nationwide postgraduate program by the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. The program comprises of four-semesters with a credit system of evaluation and the latest curriculum recommended by DBT. Students can choose elective courses offered at Department/School level and the Foundation courses offered at the university level.

M.Tech Bioinformatics
- M.Tech. Bioinformatics is a state-of-art course approved by AICTE. The course is designed to train students in theory and computational techniques including hands-on practice using state-of-the-art servers and computer labs equipped with different software packages.
Integrated M.Sc./Ph.D Biotechnology
- This is a 5-year program extendable up to a maximum of 8 years. - This is generally a 3 to 6 years course (Relaxation for women candidates are as indicated in the UGC guidelines) and in the first year, there will be a minimal but essential Ph.D. coursework component to assess for interdisciplinary skills and impart training in research methodology and ethics etc.
Department of Systems and Computational Biology

- Currently, the department is offering a 5-year Integrated Masters course in Systems Biology (IntMSc(Syst Biol)). This is offered in conjunction with the College of Integrated Studies (CIS), University of Hyderabad.
Ph.D. in Systems and Computational Biology
- The faculty members, in the past, have been the recipients of grants from the national agencies such as CSIR, DST, DBT etc., and have been part of long term national and international collaborative research grants (in collaboration with Rostock Medical Centre, Germany and University of Madeira. Portugal). Currently, the department has received research support from INNO INDIGO- DST and DBT-Ramalingasami grant.

- The M.A. course is a two-year program consisting of 16 courses spread over four semesters, with four courses per semester. The main thrust of the first two semesters is to equip students in certain core compulsory courses in both Indian and non-Indian history.
Ph.D. History
- This research program is a four-year-long program, extendable to one more year. Those students admitted directly without an M.Phil degree from the Department of History, the University of Hyderabad is required to do the course work and pass the examinations in the first two semesters in order to continue their Ph.D. Students undertake research on an approved topic under the guidance of a faculty member.

- The M.A. Programme in Financial Economics has been designed to expose the students to alternative paradigms of economic and financial theories and of global financial markets.
Integrated M.A. Economics
- I.M.A. (5-Year Integrated) program consists of a component that is common to all the social sciences during the first three years. The students are admitted through an entrance test common to all social sciences. The students spent the first three years of study at the Centre for Integrated Studies, after which they branch out to their respective allotted disciplines.
Ph.D. Economics
