Overview
സാർക്ക് മേഖലയിലെ എല്ലാ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുമുള്ള വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾക്കും ഗവേഷകർക്കും ലോകോത്തര സൗകര്യങ്ങളും പ്രൊഫഷണൽ ഫാക്കൽറ്റികളും നൽകുന്ന ഒരു സർവകലാശാലയാണ് സൗത്ത് ഏഷ്യൻ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി. സൗത്ത് ഏഷ്യൻ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി നൽകുന്ന ബിരുദങ്ങളും സർട്ടിഫിക്കറ്റുകളും ഇന്ത്യയിലെ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി ഗ്രാന്റ്‌സ് കമ്മീഷനും മറ്റ് സാർക്ക് രാജ്യങ്ങളും അംഗീകരിക്കുന്നു. ഗവേഷണത്തിലും ബിരുദാനന്തര തലത്തിലുള്ള പ്രോഗ്രാമുകളിലും സർവകലാശാല വളരെയധികം ശ്രദ്ധ കേന്ദ്രീകരിക്കുന്നു. ഇതിന് ആത്യന്തികമായി 12 ബിരുദാനന്തര സയൻസ്, നോൺ-സയൻസ് ഫാക്കൽറ്റികളും ബിരുദ പഠനങ്ങളുടെ ഒരു ഫാക്കൽറ്റിയും ഉണ്ടാകും. യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിലെ വിദ്യാർത്ഥികൾ പ്രധാനമായും എട്ട് സാർക്ക് രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവരായിരിക്കും. അവർക്കുള്ള ട്യൂഷൻ ഫീസ് വലിയ സബ്‌സിഡിയാണ്. സാർക്ക് ഇതര രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ള ചില വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളെയും പൂർണ്ണ ചിലവ് വീണ്ടെടുക്കൽ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ പ്രവേശിപ്പിച്ചേക്കാം. യൂണിവേഴ്സിറ്റിയിലെ അധ്യാപകരും പ്രധാനമായും എട്ട് സാർക്ക് രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവരായിരിക്കും, എന്നാൽ 20% വരെ അധ്യാപകരും മറ്റ് രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ നിന്നുള്ളവരായിരിക്കാം. ഗുണമേന്മയുള്ള പ്രതിഭകളെ ആകർഷിക്കുന്നതിനായി അധ്യാപകർക്ക് ആകർഷകമായ ശമ്പളവും ആനുകൂല്യ പാക്കേജുകളും രൂപകൽപ്പന ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
Departments
Mathematics and Computer Science
- The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science in the SAU aims to be a symbiosis of Mathematics and Computer Science. We envisage that Mathematics will act as the bedrock for wellfounded computation, which will in turn be at the heart of all inter-disciplinary activities involving Computer Science.
Program Offered
MSc Applied Mathematics
- The MSc (Applied Mathematics) is an 80 credits two-year program spread over four semesters. The wide range of application-oriented courses is so designed that after the completion of the course, the students would be well equipped to go to industries or to join academics.
MSc Computer Science
- The M.Sc. is a 2-years (4-semester) course, requiring the completion of 64 credits. The course will provide a unique opportunity to students in the SAARC region to obtain skills that will enable them either to pursue a career in the Computer Science/Information Technology industry; or in advanced Computer Science research.
Life Science and Biotechnology
- The current millennium is the age of biological sciences. Today, we have the conceptual, experimental, and mathematical tools to understand the complexity of inputs that go into the integrated study of the Science of Life.

Economics
- The programs introduce students to the intellectual breadth, theoretical rigor, and empirical skills that are necessary for conducting advanced research, teaching, and working on issues of economic development in the South Asian region.
Courses Offered
MA (Economics)
- The duration of the Master's program is two years (four semesters). Students need to complete 64-credit coursework, consisting of 9 core courses and 5 optional courses (each worth 4 credits), and a dissertation (worth 8 credits).
Ph.D. in Economics
The programs introduce students to the intellectual breadth, theoretical rigor, and empirical skills that are necessary for conducting advanced research, teaching, and working on issues of economic development in the South Asian region.
Social Sciences
- The Faculty of Social Sciences at South Asian University was initiated in 2011. At present, it consists of the Department of International Relations and the Department of Sociology.

- The M.A. program is a two-year program offered by the Department. The four semesters of the course will offer a combination of compulsory and optional courses and two courses in Dissertation Writing spread over two semesters
MA International Relations
The two-year Master's Programme at the Department of International Relations is designed to encourage students to develop their critical faculties, both within and outside the field of international relations. The composition of its student community, drawn from across the South Asian region gives the program a unique edge.
Legal Studies
- The study of law at South Asian University aims at an analytical understanding of the subjects, systems, theories and institutions in this field. Towards this end, the Faculty of Legal Studies has introduced the LL.M Programme with an emphasis on international law. It is widely known that international law has become the common language of relations between states and other subjects.
